Newspaper - a free theme for BlogEngine.NET

Newspaper is a free, lightweight, high-contrast, black&white theme for BlogEngine.NET. The name "Newspaper" comes from the fact that the theme looks like a real newspapers. I kept to the "less is more" concept and limited graphic element just to a few icons.

You can see it live (although I changed some features in my blog) and you can download a free copy.

UPDATE (07.July 2008): There is an updated version that works with BlogEngine.NET 1.4

Features

Header and menu are very simple. Menu contains common links, but I added PageList into the menu so that "About Me" and other pages fit into one navigation context. Sign in/sign out link is positioned on the right side of the menu.

Sidebar in this template contains all elements, except blog calendar which I hate :) But you can remove any user control that you don't want to use.

Posts consist of title, description, post content and post footer. Post description contains information about author, post date, tags and categories. Post footer contains rating stars, share links, permalink and comment RSS link.

Comments are very simple. On the left side of each comment is gravatar picture. Top section of a comment contains information about author and post date. This is where administration links will appear for logged users.

Comment form is slightly changed to be more effective. Perhaps this also could be a part of a theme in BlogEngine.NET version 1.4.

Again, you can see it live (although I changed some features in my blog) and you can download a free copy.

Installation

To install a theme you just have to extract the content of a zip file to ~/themes/ folder in your solution. This will create "Newspaper" subfolder and extracts necessary files into it.

At the end

If you install and use the theme, please drop me a line, I would like to see it live! Thanks!
