JankoAtWarpSpeed retouched and upgraded

After three successful months of running this blog, I decided to retouch it and update it. The main reason for this came from analysis. I noticed that some parts of the blog just didn't serve the purpose (such as footer).

So let me explain further what is the outcome of this retouching.

As you can see styles are slightly retouched. All headers are now rendered in Georgia font which makes a good combination with Arial font. Post information such as author, tags, share links, etc. are now much darker which makes the title and content stand out.

Sidebar is now much more functional than before. I moved all additional links from footer to the sidebar. Now you have popular and recent post that are more accessible than before. Footer now contains only navigation links and copyright info.

And of course, JankoAtWarpSpeed is now running on BlogEngine.NET 1.4!

I believe this can improve the blog usability. But, what do you think about redesigned JankoAtWarpSpeed? Is there anything you like or dislike more than before? Do you have any suggestions?

First of all, I love your logo though I would add a little motion blur (because of the warp speed, you know?).

Secondly, maybe ditch one of "Month List" or "Categories" because there is a lot of overlap. Pagination works well so I wouldn't add an extra sidebar list for the chronologically oriented people.

Also, why duplicate the navigation in the footer?

Yeah, uhm, the rest is great (I always start with the negative stuff (D) )

Thanks for your comment Johann!

Categories section is very important navigation section on my sidebar, because a lot of people are interested in one of the categories (e.g. eather in developemnt or design) and it acts as an addition to tag clouds. Month list is of a less importance but might be useful if someone want's to take a look at earlier posts (althought I am considering removing it because one will always click on a specific tag or a category rather than to a month name). Generally, if someone is interested in past post he/she could use an archive page.

For the footer menu - I wanted to enable readers to do some more action after reading or posting a comment. We'll see if this is going to be useful at all Smile

And for the logo - this one came up more accidently than intentionally Laughing

Love your stuff, I'm using it all over the place (will drop a note when one goes public!)

Have you seen Crazy Egg? I've been using it a ton, everything from little stuff like 'what order should the buttons on the menu go in' to 'how do I make this funnel easier to use'.

Try it out for a while, I bet the results will surprise you. They did when I tried it. (some 50% of the clicks on most of my pages are on the header text/image!)

Justin, thanks for the comment. Regarding CrazyEgg, yep I tried it, and it helped me to make some decisions. Here is a post on testing CrayEgg: www.jankoatwarpspeed.com/.../...sing-CrazyEgg.aspx
