Changing hosting provider

As you might already noticed my site is often down for a couple of minutes and it repeats too often. Last time (two weeks ago) I contacted technical support and they told me they will fix the problem. They didn't contact me since then. And they didn't fix it, of course. I think is unacceptable and totally unprofessional that they didn't eliminate the problem for two weeks neither inform me about the progress on this one.

Because of this (and many issues before) I am forced to change hosting provider. I hope this won't be painful, but it might happen that in next few days JankoAtWarpSpeed goes down here and there. Wait... that is already happening. Ok, so nothing will change, actually :)

I apologize in advance if you experience any problems in next few days. Thank you for understanding.

Hosting problem is always a pain. Luckily for me, my blog is hosted on a friend's dedicated server, free of charge.

Where are you moving to? I assume it will be a windows hosting?

Yes we all are interested in where you are moving and why.

I'd like to recommend VPS from Amazon or SliceHost.  Unfortunately they are both located in the US which makes privacy a huge issue.

I've never found hosting a pain, but I do feel the saying "You get what you pay for" applies here.

Josip: yep, uptimo could have helped me know what is going on ;)

Jin: Lucky you! I'm moving to a local provider SezamHosting.com (yes it's Win hosting). My wife hosts her site there and she is very satisfied. Smile I also use their services (ADSL) for three years and I never complained. I should have done this long time ago.

Nick: Basically, I had a lot of issues with domain, getting IIS to work and so on, and none of them was my fault. And none of theme weren't resolved. I will pay the same amount at my new provider and get better service.

Well, I hope that everything will go well.

I had (and my friends) very unfortunate experiences with that hosting provider on Linux platform:

I have never seen a hosting provider to be 100% happy with.

I'm currently having a VPS for 1yr now, and considering changing as the price is a bit higher than the rest.

You'll always get into this kind of issues, still it's inacceptable not to reply to the support ticket with a solution.

I'd switch to my own server, can't really recommend anyone 100%.

The hosting provider in question just started offering the service like many providers in Serbia in that time... renting one or two mid level machines in ev1servers and selling 200-300-500 hosting packages on each, praying it would work ok... and it usually did.. They survived the original test of time, back in 2005.-2006. when a lot the similar players quit the market, and after a while, being cnsidered serious they were sold...
Still, you simply can't provide high quality service for that kind of money, in a country like ours. 99% of the users won't notice if things arent working well, but some will, and those will have to move to a more reliable (not necessarily more expensive) solution.
Same with ADSL or Cable internet... it works ok most of the time, and even if it has slow ping, and looses packages... how many people would even know? Smile
